This was the weirdest technique I've ever used... With a ref. I did the whole bird in ballpoint pen and then I worked into it with paint. Thus I lost half of the feather texture and the scanner didn't help (had to touch up on photoshop). But I'm fairly happy with the effect of the background and I like peregrine falcons!
Used watercolours, paint, ballpoint pen and coloured pencils.
wow! i love this! the overall finished effect is so original! i dunno what it is about it, but the background makes it so smooth, yet the falcon itself is so harsh and detailed. great job! absolutely ador the face!
the bird looks v.regal...if birds could pull it off is that water I spy in the bottom lefthand corner? v.nice detail with the feathers, can't believe you had the patience to do it all in ballpoint pen
yay for the sponge!! y'know I only just thought of it, but the background reminds me of those watercolourish paintings that the chinese, or japanese, or just the asian countries do. hope that made sense :S
Wow...when did you do this? Me wanna see the original Great as usual... don't need me complimenting you... Love the new, but weird technique. It works well.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Yes. It's water, because I tried to put in the ocean but then I overdid it so I had to sponge it out which is why it looks faded.
i wish i could draw like you
